I used a standard game cotroller to edit video on Sony Vegas and navigate other software when had a bad back/shoulder injury a few years ago.
It was a real boon to avoid the elbow/shoulder movement when using a mouse, but I later bought a Kensington trackball which is also configurable and for me, beats a game controller into touch.

I am shocked that 42% of podcasters who participated in this survey are using AI. That is what I think the article should be. Just because its under 50% doesn’t mean it isn’t taking off. I think the fact that 42% of podcasters are using a tool that didn’t exist a year ago is crazy!

Here we go again! Words, terms, language being co-opted to mean whatever the writer wants them to mean, without any regard for the conventions of language. A script is something written down. A play is a piece of drama (or comedy) which is scripted. Sometimes they are performed as audio only. Scripted Fiction? What is this? Actual Play? I saw one in the theatre last week. Yes an Actual Play! With Actual Actors performing an Actual Scripted Fiction. Audio drama can be scripted, or it can be improvised. Why make up a new term for something so simple? When the performers/players make up the dialogue, events, plot twists as they go it’s called improvisation. If you are going to redefine words, please explain as you go. Ok, I give up.

I wanted to suggest the Monoprice 600800 condenser mic. It is priced comparable to the 990, but is a far superior mic. In my opinion, it’s ridiculously well priced, and the best sounding condenser you can buy without spending hundreds more. I’ve used both extensively.

I can imagine a situation where someone would us an AI tool like ChatGPT to create written content and AI voices to create voice over. They would enter a simple question, tap “generate”, send the content that’s generated to the voice over tool and voila, a podcast. Given appropriate api tools, it could all be automated, including generating the initial questions.

I don’t see that happening widely or being particularly popular though. Podcasts are interesting because they provide personal, nuanced perspectives about a topic while AI produced content likely won’t be able to – at least not in the immediate future.

I just finished submitting! It’s a little dicey, getting through it. Took me 4 or 5 tries. Even though I’d saved an almost complete submission at one point, it somehow evaporated.

But I’m patient. The system lets you do it over. And as you do, you get clearer on what they’re seeking and how to present it.

I actually have 2 credits in IMDB for 2 bit parts I did a handful of years ago on 2 different shoots for friends. It was fun to se my own name pop up as an option in the credits submission section!

But they give you a way to tell them why you might not have any credits. And since it’s clear that we’re submitting podcasts, I feel like there won;t be any loss of ground there.

Far as I could tell, only 300~ish people chose “podcast” as an attribute. And I feel that IMDB probably draws the kinds of people who’d also enjoy a great podcast.

The platform will probably be a very useful search engine for us. And SEO bens too! Guess we’ll see. But I have a glowy feeling in my bowels that this was the correct move. 😉

What a process – certainly not designed for podcasts and I suspect many would give up in despair.
